City Councilmember Lynn Schulman has represented District 11 since 2021 after decades of working in city governance.
Having formerly survived cancer and worked in NYC Health + Hospitals for a decade, Schulman is a strong advocate of expanding healthcare service affordability and accessibility, as well as taking hospital capacity into consideration during rezoning. She has also advocated for maternal health legislation to address persistent maternal mortality rates among low income New York women.
She is a sitting member of the Committee on Aging; the Committee on Education; the Committee on Fire and Emergency Management; the Committee on Governmental Operations, State & Federal Legislation; the Subcommittee on Zoning and Franchises; the Subcommittee on COVID & Infectious Diseases, and she is the Chair of the Committee on Health. She is a member of the Jewish Caucus, the LGBTQ+ Caucus, and the Women’s Caucus.
She is a former member of the 112th Precinct Community Council, the Board of Directors of the Forest Hills Chamber of Commerce, the Community Education Council for District 28, and the Vice-Chair on Community Board 6.
